Become a blood donor and help save others’ lives. Donating blood is a quick, easy way to give back to your community and help others. The BloodCenter of Wisconsin relies on your donation to supply blood products to the Wisconsin community hospitals and patients in need. Please donate.
Catholic Central High School’s Student Council is hosting their annual spring blood drive on Monday, May 16th. Stop in CC’s New Gym between the hours of 8a.m. and 1p.m. to donate. Register for an appointment online (www.bcw.edu/CCHS) or by contacting the Student Council advisor (Susan at sdosemagen@cchsnet.org 262.763.1510 ext.206). Walk-ins are welcome.
Donor eligibility (via BloodCenter of Wisconsin)
All donors should be in good health on the day of donation. To be eligible, you must:
- Be at least 17 years old (16-year-olds may donate with parental consent.)
- Weigh at least 110 lbs.
- Feel well on day of donation
- Be free of major cold and flu symptoms
- Present a photo ID with birth date
- Not have had hepatitis after age 11 years
- Not have had any risk factors/behaviors associated with HIV/AIDS
Things to remember before you donate
- REST: come well rested from a good night’s sleep.
- EAT: have a good dinner the night before, and a good breakfast the morning of donating.
- HYDRATE: double your fluid intake the morning of your donation. Water and juice are recommended.
- RELAX: donating blood is simple, and remember, you are saving a life.
** If you are 16 and would like to donate, please stop by Ms.Dosemagen’s room or the office for a permission slip. You must have this filled out to donate.
