Key Club Veteran's Fundraiser

This next week, Key Club will be beginning its first ever Home for Troops fundraiser in honor of this upcoming Veteran's Day.

Homes for Troops, receiving Charity Navigator's highest rating since 2008, is a privately funded, nonprofit organization that builds specially adapted, mortgage-free homes for severely mentally and physically disabled soldiers returning home from Iraq and Afghanistan. Since its founding in 2004, Homes for Troops has built over 190 specially adapted homes nationwide and aims to continue building homes for all veterans who qualify. However, being a privately funded organization, nearly 70% of their funds come from donation, which is where we come into play.

There are three ways you can contribute:

1. Participate in our $1 Dress Down Day on November 9th. Turn in money to Ms. Dosemagen or Bridgette Wright by November 6th.
2. Come chill with us at The Coffee House on Veteran's Day, November 11th. From 4 until 9, a portion of the proceeds will go to our Homes for Troops fundraiser.
3. Make a free will donation to our Homes for Troops fundraiser page: https://fundraise.hfotusa.org/fundraise?fcid=523625

Please help us achieve our goal of raising $500 during the 2 week interval we have before Veteran's Day.

In addition to this monetary fundraiser, we will also be making cards for veterans during 7th hour prayer and having an assembly on November 11th, Veteran's Day.

Thanks in advance for all of your support.

COME ON OUT AND CHEER ON OUR TOPPERS!!

Topper Hall & The Catholic Central Musical Need Your Help.

"Godspell-the 2012 Revival" was an enormous success!! A huge thank you goes out to all who attended, volunteered and participated. We are also happy to now give you the opportunity to play an active roll in propelling the CCHS performing arts program deep into the future. Our performances of Godspell expanded the boundaries of this storied program.  It also uncovered some limitations of our aging theater infrastructure and equipment. Since last spring, the Just Off Broadway Board has been hard at work soliciting proposals from (4) professional theater systems designers and has diligently and prudently developed a hierarchy of needs for the facility. Below is a prioritized description of a (3) phase progression of upgrades. Phase (1) represents the most pressing need and although we would prefer to do all the upgrades at one time we are aware this may not be possible. The Board will evaluate the option to begin the work on a phase by phase basis once each phase goal has been met. Please contact Mr Zeigler or Mr Wagner if you have additional questions about our chosen path.

7th Annual Alternate T-Shirt

Below is the order form for the 7th Annual Alternate T-Shirt Day.  Last year we were able to raise over $1,500 for Leukemia Cancer Research and we are back this year to see if we can raise even more!   If you are ordering a shirt for a friend/family member/co-worker simply fill out the form with their information and in the box label "Name of Student/Child/Staff Member for Distribution" put their name.

UPDATE: This year we will be changing our fundraising focus to someone near and dear to us.  For those of you who do not know, Mr. Sabin just had a beautiful baby boy named Edison, this past July.  Since Edison was born, he has gone through numerous surgeries and has yet to be released from the hospital.  This is a great time to join together as the Catholic Central Family and support our fellow family member.  We will have a number of great options of where we can put this money to great use.  So join us in supporting a great cause that is near and dear to our hearts!

PAYMENT: All payments need to be made by November 6th.  If you have not paid for your T-shirt by this date it will NOT be added to the order.  All payments need to be brought to room 101 (Mr. DeLorme's room) or turned into the school office in an envelope labeled "Alternate T-Shirt" with your name on it.

Tuesday, NOVEMBER 24th - All T-shirts will be distributed on or before this date.  This will also be the date we will all be wearing the shirt in support of the cause.

Please make all checks out to CCHS.

Any questions? Feel free to email me at mdelorme@cchsnet.org or call 262.763.1510 ext. 101

Check out Coach Aldrich's Interview on Sports' Junkies!

Attached is a link to an interview with Catholic Central High School Football Coach, Tom Aldrich.  It is an episode of Sports' Junkies, with the Racine Journal Times reporter Gery Woelfel and 105.7 The Fan's Steve "Sparky" Fifer.  The interview focuses on the Hilltoppers' football program and how they maintain their high level of success.  Though the interview pertains to last Friday's game, it is a window into how a sports program at a small high school can be molded and shaped by a lay Catholic man of faith.

This is an outstanding feature on Coach Aldrich and paints a great picture of Catholic Central High School.

1692 Salem Immersion

It was unfortunate that on the 12th Day of October in the second year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord David I, by the grace of God of Catholic Central, detestable acts of witchcraft were committed inside the Marian Activity Center Classroom.

On trial before God were Tituba, George Jacobs Sr, George Burroughs, Sarah Good, Giles and Martha Corey, as well as the Proctor family.

It was a sad and unfortunate event, but history demands that we document these events - here are the pictures that were taken.

He is passionate about the sport and more importantly, he is passionate about working with young men and molding them into productive members of our society. Jim has been active advocate, teacher, coach and fan of baseball in the Burlington area for over 24 years.

World History Food Drive

In World History class freshmen have been learning about different world religions for the past few weeks. In many of those religions, and in our own, an emphasis is put on helping those in need. So we decided to do just that.

World History students are participating in a food drive for the next two weeks to help collect non-perishable items to help families in need before the holiday season. We are only one day into the drive and we have collected several items so far. We’re looking forward to really making a difference in others’ lives and helping those we can!

We will be collecting food between now and October 26th. If you are also interested in donating non-perishable food items, please drop them off in the office or room 206. We appreciate your participation and would love your assistance in helping others!
