World History Food Drive

In World History class freshmen have been learning about different world religions for the past few weeks. In many of those religions, and in our own, an emphasis is put on helping those in need. So we decided to do just that.

World History students are participating in a food drive for the next two weeks to help collect non-perishable items to help families in need before the holiday season. We are only one day into the drive and we have collected several items so far. We’re looking forward to really making a difference in others’ lives and helping those we can!

We will be collecting food between now and October 26th. If you are also interested in donating non-perishable food items, please drop them off in the office or room 206. We appreciate your participation and would love your assistance in helping others!

1622 Immersion

Good Morrow,

Today the lord has blessed us with a wonderful day in which we spent another day working towards the purpose God has placed on us here on Earth. With our leader William Bradford, William Brewster, Myles Standish, plus the others that have survived our Lord's test of the Winter months, we now have seen a light of prosperity as we continue to grow Plymouth.

Model UN Conference

Students,

Every year students from Catholic Central High School participate in the Model United Nations Conference sponsored by the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan. CCHS will be bringing a group again this year. At this conference, students will participate in seven two- to four-hour sessions beginning Thursday evening and going through Sunday morning which simulate real committee meetings of the United Nations.  Our delegates research topics given to them by the Model UN staff -- students of the University of Michigan.  Our students will then offer and debate possible solutions and viewpoints of our assigned country in their respective committees.

The conference this year will take place Thursday, January 14 - Sunday, January 17th, 2016. Payment to participate in the conference is the responsibility of each delegate (student). Due to an early registration process, we need to get organized quickly! If you are interested in joining Model UN and participating in the University of Michigan Conference, come to Ms.Dosemagen’s classroom (206) during lunch on Monday, September 21st for a quick meeting and more information!

If you or your parents have any questions, please contact Ms. Dosemagen.

Europe Spring Trip -- Upcoming Meeting

European travelers!!!

I am looking at my calendar thinking I need to update when I feel we need an "all travelers and guardians" meeting.  The 18th is the very last date to commit to the trip so I am thinking October 1st at 6pm in room 105 at CCHS will be good.  At that time we will be discussing rooms, passports, $, behavior, etc. If you cannot make the meeting let me know but I will have the calendar people make it official.

Really looking forward to the trip.  I know you are also.

Introducing: iCanSwim Lakeland

Here is another volunteer opportunity for those of you who are looking to get a few more service hours in before sending in applications, or anyone else 15 or older.

The iCanShine program (which hosted a bike camp earlier this summer that some of you were involved in) is currently putting together a swim camp for kids with Autism and Down Syndrome. It will be held at Lakeland School in Elkhorn from August 17th-21st (which is in a couple weeks), with an orientation on August 16th. As long as you can can swim, no major swim experience (ie: swim team, lifeguarding, etc.) or experience with kids with disabilities is necessary. You would be working one-on one with a swimmer in a group setting, helping your swimmer reach their goals by learning skills like movement, floating, and breathing.

If you are interested in volunteering, please fill out and send in the registration form and/or contact Gabey Davis, the director, at gabey.davis@gmail.com with any questions as soon as possible since camp is rapidly approaching. Below is a link to the flyer with details (including the session times), along with a volunteer registration packet. Feel free to pass this along to anyone you know who might be interested in volunteering as well. They can't do this without the amazing volunteers who give their time to make it possible!
