Dr. Mark Sheldon

Dr. Sheldon has spent his career in education studying at Carroll College, Illinois State University, U. W. Oshkosh, U.W. Parkside, U. W. Milwaukee, U.W.Whitewater and most recently earned a doctorate degree in Education and Organizational Leadership from Cardinal Stritch University.  He has been a teacher of Art and Design, a Supervisor for Talented and Gifted Programming, and a School Principal over the past 38 years. He helped lead the BHS Art & Design Department achieve the award of Art Department of the Year in 1993 and was awarded Administrator of the Year Award in 2006.

Dr. Sheldon met Mrs. Sheldon in a design class when they were in college together in 1966.  He owes so much of his understanding of teaching and learning to the time they have spent together (48 years!) and to Mrs. Sheldon’s high level of expertise and caring for people.

Dr. Sheldon and Mrs. Sheldons’ grown children are professional designers. Their son, Craig works in Atlanta as a professional animator and their daughter, Robin works as a fashion designer in Manhattan.

This is Dr. Sheldon’s 8th year at CCHS and he is very pleased with this school and the many opportunities it provides for students to gain leadership experience in a college-prep academic environment.

The thing that gives Dr. Sheldon his biggest reward is seeing students learn and prosper.  Learn by doing is something core to his philosophy.  And in the Art & Design area, problem-solving and higher level thinking are part of what makes the learning fun!  Many students have been award winners at local and state levels with their Art & Design pieces and several recent graduates are pursuing degrees in Art & Design-related fields.
