On Saturday, May 13th Catholic Central High School held its first “Keep Faith Running” 5K Run/Walk at the lovely Franciscan Monastery in Burlington. Over 100 runners/walkers participated and enjoyed a beautiful day filled with fun, food provided by Bruiser’s, and an opportunity to discover the many wooded trails within the grounds of the monastery.
The event, run by 5Kevents.org, Georgean Selburg (Development Office), and Aimee Reyzer (Guidance Office) brought in over $6,300 with profits supporting the operational budget of the high school. This year’s 32 sponsors, made up of businesses and families, contributed $100 or more. Special t-shirts were designed by senior, Ji In Choi (printed by PFI Fashions Inc.) and students who raised $100+ were given the opportunity to win a $100 scrip card of their choice. Junior, Brynn Mesec was this year’s winner.
Along with the 5K, Catholic Central also announced the winner of its “Grand Tour of Ireland” raffle, which offered participants the opportunity to win a trip for two through Rose Weiler of Sceptre Tours. The cost was $50 per ticket. This year’s big winner was Maggie Hegeman of Waterford. The raffle brought in a profit of over $6,200.
