Painting Class Transforms Ordinary Chairs Into Works Of Art

Every year the painting class joins with a community wide project of transforming ordinary wooden chairs into art. Our students join students from other schools and area artists to create specialty chairs. The chamber auctions the chairs off to fund various community projects.

Here is this year's team and the chairs. Pictured below are Haile Weis, Elizebeth Venteicher, Cal Sanfelippo, Colin McCarthy, Edgar Rodriguez, and Nicholas Hoffman, not pictured is Greg Sember.

US History students recite the Gettysburg Address

"In 2014, Documentary filmmaker Ken Burns created a film chronicling the life of students at a school in Vermont as they worked to memorize the Gettysburg Address. Along with the documentary, Ken Burns challenged Americans to recite the Gettysburg Address and upload it to his website learntheaddress.org. Celebrities and everyday citizens alike have been placing their videos on the website, meeting Ken Burns' challenge, and this year's US History classes are no different. Government presidential election: campaigning

The two U.S. Government classes are currently running in an election for the presidency of the United States. (I know, they're realistically a little young, but we have high ambitions.) In class, they have been discussing and evaluating roles of government and the political election system. Throughout the next two weeks students will be posting campaign materials in the school, online via Twitter, Instagram or other social media, or through email.

Students and staff are asked to take the time to read or look at the campaign material as they are the voting electorate that government students are aiming to persuade.

Election Day is set for Tuesday, March 3rd. That morning two "ballots" (one for each class) will be available to CCHS students and staff to vote for their chosen candidate. (We will actually be electing two presidents.) Each ballot will also contain a link to candidates’ websites and more detailed information.
