John Henderson Earns Junior Bronze and Silver Awards
John Henderson, East Troy, Wis., has earned the National Junior Angus Association’s (NJAA) Bronze and Silver awards, according to Jaclyn Clark, education and events director of the American Angus Association® in Saint Joseph, Mo.
The 17-year-old son of Chad and Becky Henderson attends Catholic Central High School and is a member of the NJAA and the Wisconsin Junior Angus Association, where he currently serves as vice president and also served as membership chairperson, show chairperson and vice show chairperson; historian, and fundraising chairperson.
He has participated in local, state, regional and national shows and showmanship contests. At the National Junior Angus Show (NJAS), John participated in the quiz bowl, livestock judging, team fitting, and photography contests.
The Bronze and Silver awards are the first two levels of the NJAA Recognition Program that began in 1972. Junior Angus breeders must apply for the awards, then meet point requirements in many areas of participation before receiving the honors. Applicants are evaluated in areas of junior Angus association activities and leadership, participation in showmanship, contests and shows, using performance testing to improve their herd and their progress in producing and merchandising Angus cattle.
The NJAA promotes the involvement of young people in raising Angus cattle, while also providing leadership and self-development opportunities for the nearly 6,000 active members nationwide.

STUDENTS IN THE 2017 NATIONAL MERIT® SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
Principal David
Wieters, of Catholic Central High School announced that John (Jack) Czerwinski
has been named a Commended Student in the 2017 National Merit Scholarship
Program. A Letter of Commendation from
the school and the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC), which
conducts the program, was presented by the principal to this scholastically
talented senior.
About 34,000 Commended
Students throughout the nation are recognized for their exceptional academic
promise. Although they will not continue
in the 2017 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, Commended Students
placed among the top five percent of more than 1.6 million students who entered
the 2017 competition by taking the 2015 Preliminary SAT/National Merit
Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®).
“The young men and
women being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential
for academic success,” commented a spokesperson for NMSC. “These students represent a valuable
resource; recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role their
schools play in their academic development, is vital to the advancement of
educational excellence in our nation. We
hope that this recognition will help broaden their educational opportunities
and encourage them as they continue their pursuit of academic success.”
Jack is the son of John and Colleen Czerwinski of Elkhorn, WI.
US History 1622 Immersion
The US History class had their first immersion this past week and it was quite the event! Below is a recap of the 1622 Immersion:
What a beautiful day the Lord has given us this day, the Twentieth day of September in the Year of our Lord 1622. William Brewster led the colony in prayer, helping to preserve our salvation. Bradford and Winslow updated the progress of the colony, as Mrs. Hopkins tended to the children.
Unfortunately the miscreant John Billington and his obnoxious kin interrupted the peaceful community with their presence. Their presence alone is causing a rift between us and the Natives that have helped us dearly in our survival.

Take A Peek At What Aubrey Alderman Did This Summer
Most kids’ summer consists of staying home working, going to the beach, having bonfires, hanging out with their friends, and family vacations. While I consider my summer to be just as much fun - I can't say I do the same. My summer traveling started May 26 when I made my way to Oshkosh for a 2 week horse show. From there I came home for 2 days, and then made my way to Midland Michigan to show my Reiner for 5 days. Once again I came home for 2 nights and then went to Madison for yet another horse show. I was there for 5 days and then traveled north to Abrams WI where 2 of my horses live. I stayed there for 5 days to get in some practice before we went to the first major Futurity of the summer, The Tom Powers Futurity in Berrien Springs, Michigan. The total time I spent in Michigan for that haul was about 22 days. We went to Berrien Springs, Ludington, and then to Midland. This trip included 3 different horse shows, with 3 different horses, and 2 different trainers. I then came home and was in Kansasville for about 14 days before I left for the AQHYA World Show and the NSBA World Show in Oklahoma. I was in Oklahoma from August 2-21 (yes I did miss the first week of school). With all of this being said, very rarely was I able to be home hanging out with my friends before they left for college, but it was so worth it.
Now, most people don't really know exactly why I do this, and what I do. Number one, I do this because I absolutely love it, I live for showing horses and competing. I could go on and on about all the reasons I love showing horses. It's something not many people are able to do and I'm lucky enough to spend my whole summer (and parts of the school year) traveling and competing. But there is also a purpose behind all of this. My goal/dream growing up was to become a D1 athlete on an Equestrian Team. To become one, you do the same is if it were any other sport. When it comes to recruiting it is just like any other sport, the various college recruiters will be at the horse shows watching you just as if it were a football, basketball, or baseball player.
So, what exactly do I do? Currently I have three show horses and one retired horse. My retired horse (Zippos Tiger Bar, aka Butch) lives in Beloit. Two of my show horses (Made U Want Me, aka Dudley and Decidedly a Diva, aka Diva) live in Abrams WI in the summer, and Ocala FL in the winter. Lastly, my Reiner (Boogie Knight, aka Wayne Junior) lives in Fremont MI. I show Dudley and Diva in the Western Pleasure, and Wayne Junior in the Reining-- which are two totally different events. In the Western Pleasure I ride around the arena and the class is judged solely on the horse and how they move, it is a slow paced class. Now, that doesn't mean I just sit up in my saddle and do nothing-- it is actually a very difficult class that takes a lot of practice and feel. Reining is the total opposite and very fast paced. For this event you perform a pattern while riding your horse which consists of running fast circles, changing leads, spinning fast, and sliding far (hence my license plates). There are 13 different NRHA patterns, all consisting of the various maneuvers. Learning all of them and understanding the timing of each is the difficult part.
Below are some of my ‘bigger’ accomplishments from this summer:

Congratulations to the CCHS Fishing Club!!
Two anglers from the CCHS Fishing club, Will Murray and Bailey Bleser competed at the Wisconsin BASS Nation State High School Championships in Holcombe, WI. They finished a very respectable 9th place out of 38 teams. Below is a picture taken during the event. Congratulations Will and Bailey!
On Sunday, June 19, two teams from the CCHS Fishing Club participated in the WI Student Angler Federation (TBF affiliate) High School Championships on the Minoqua chain of lakes. The first team coached by Mr. Tom Murray consisted of Will Murray and Gavin Clayton. The second CCHS team coached by Mr. Rich Bleser consisted of Bailey Bleser and John Pum. A special thank you goes out to Mr. and Mrs. Murray for hosting both teams at their cabin in the Minoqua area. Staying at the Murray’s cabin allowed for a great team building and made for a very memorable event. Will and Gavin landed three very nice legal Large Mouth Bass to finish in 16th place. Bailey and John caught numerous legal SMB although could not land the big ones needed to advance them to the regional tournament. They finished 11th. The team once again represented CCHS well!
On Sunday, August 14, 2016, Bailey Bleser participated in the Student Angler Federation Northern High School Open Fishing Tournament on Mille Lacs Lake near Isle, MN. He competed against 42 other High School teams from all over the upper Midwest. Bailey was the very last angler to weigh in and his weight for the five SMB totaled a lifetime best of 21.6 lbs. to tie for first place with a local team from Prior Lake HS. With the win, Bailey will be representing Catholic Central High School at the Student Angler Federation Central Conference High School Championships on the Ohio River near Lawrenceburg, IN September 23-24, 2016 . Bailey’s goal is to finish within the top 10% at this conference championship to advance to the High School Fishing National Championships in the spring of 2017. Pictured with Bailey holding his 5 fish catch is an assigned non-boater co-angler from Brookfield WI, Andrew Daniels.
During the weigh in Bailey recognized his High School Principal and Athletics Director for allowing the formation of a fishing club and supporting the anglers participation in such competitions. He also expressed a heart-felt thanks to his mother who has allowed him and his father to spend endless hours fishing to prepare for such events.
Congratulations to Bailey and good luck at the Central Conference Championships!

CCHS Blood Drive - August 12
CCHS will be hosting a summer blood drive this Friday, August 12th from 8:00 - 1:00pm in Topper Hall with appointment slots every 15 minutes. Appointments are encouraged, but walk-ins are welcomed.
To donate you must:
• Be in good health.
• Meet weight requirements.
• Have photo I.D. with your birth date.
• Be at least 17 years old (16 years old with parental consent), no upper age limit.
All donors should feel in good health on the day of donation. There are some reasons why you may not be able to donate. Please be prepared to share your list of prescription medicines, discuss your medical history and travel outside of the United States.

Hello CC Families!
The following information is in regard to Athletics.
1) ALL STUDENT ATHLETES must attend one of the following MANDATORY meetings with a parent/guardian. We are ONLY having meetings for all seasons in the upcoming weeks rather than every season. Here are the following dates:
- July 14th 7:30 pm Topper Hall
- August 15th 6:30 pm Topper Hall
*Attendance at one of these meetings must be completed PRIOR to the first day of practice for the student-athlete.
2) Online registration for all athletes is required as well prior to their first practice using the following link:
- Physical forms and alternate year forms can be found on the registration link as well. Once completed by a provider, please turn in to Ms. Racky via hard copy or email.

Aubrey will be competing in Michigan later this summer, as well as in Oklahoma City for the AQHYA World Show. From there, the competitors will be moving up to Tulsa for the NSBA World Show.
