CCHS Topper Auction-Great Car Raffle Incentive Prizes!
As a special incentive to sell Car Raffle Tickets, CCHS is offering an opportunity for you to win:
- a $100 scrip card (you get to choose!)
- your student (or faculty/staff member) gets to dress-down (sweatpants or athletic shorts), one Friday per month beginning Dec. 8th through May, 2015 (not valid on Mass days).
- your student (or faculty/staff member) gets to be first in line at lunch for for the entire week of December 8th.
You must sell at least 2-$100 tickets to have your name placed in the bin. Each time you sell 2 tickets, your name will be placed in the bin! Make sure to hand your ticket stubs in to Mrs. Selburg or Mrs. Tadeo by the morning of Monday, December 1st to qualify. Make sure to put your stubs in an envelope with your family's name on the front. If you have already purchased at least 2 tickets, and your name is on the tickets, your name will still be placed in the bin.
Three names will be drawn on Monday, December 1st, at the beginning of 8th hour. The first name drawn will win the $100 scrip card of your choice, the second name drawn will win the dress-down pass and the third name drawn will win the "first in line" certificate.

WELCOME TO THE ENGLISH DEPARTMENT - MRS. DELASSUS
Hello and welcome to the English department! Nicole DeLassus is one of the three English teachers this year and is excited to be in her fourth year here at Catholic Central. She has a Masters in Secondary Education and a Masters in English from DePaul University. She also earned an interdisciplinary BA degree from Columbia College in Fiction Writing and Film/Video with a focus on story adaptation. She enjoys spending time with her husband, family and many pets, reading, writing, painting, kayaking, and knitting projects she doesn’t finish. Her current project is a blanket for Baby Violet who she is expecting any day now.
This year, Mrs. Delassus teaches English I (freshmen requirement), American Literature and Composition (junior non-AP requirement), Speech (elective), and Story in Fiction and Film (a second semester elective where the students study how films create narratives and even create their own films).
In English I, the students are reading The Pearl and analyzing for theme while about to start learning about argument writing. Then they will move on to a Man Vs. Nature unit with poetry and the epic poem The Odyssey. In American LIt and Composition, the students are reading about the Salem Witch Trials in The Crucible and will eventually move on to American Romanticism, American Revolutionaries and then Catcher in the Rye. Her speech class is in the middle of delivering demonstration speeches and are beginning a radio broadcast essay to practice speaking rate, voice inflection, enunciation, etc. Then they will move on to a drama skit.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Business and Technology, where Mr. DeLorme is the teacher and he shows you all the new latest technology, while helping to make you more Business savvy. Do you have an interest in the world of business and/or technology? Then this is the place for you! Mr. DeLorme offers a number of different courses, which include: Web Design I & II, Personal Finance, Computer Applications, Focus on Multimedia(team taught with Mrs. Sheldon in the art department), Focus on Careers, Business Management, Marketing and much more. He also teaches a general technology course to the 6th, 7th & 8th grade students from St. Mary School.
If you were to find yourself in one of these classes you might find yourself learning about the following:
- Web Design I - How to create, build and update your own website. We use the latest program from Adobe, including: Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, InDesign and much more.

- Focus on Multimedia - Ever wanted to do a project for a class and you don’t know where to start? Well then this is the place for you. Mrs. Sheldon and Mr. DeLorme show you a number of neat programs to help you complete and spiff up your projects. Teachers will be amazed at what you can do!
- Computer Applications - Probably one of the most important classes to take as an elective with the way our future is going with technology. In this class you will learn all there is to know about Microsoft Office(Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher) and Google Apps (Drive, Gmail, Calendars, Contacts). Having knowledge of these programs is a great Resume booster and something that will help you be more efficient in the future.
As you look at the classes offered, one thing that you will notice is how each class can connect to real world examples. This is exactly what Business & Technology is. Whether you are buying a car, like you will do in Personal Finance, walking into a grocery store to buy a product as you would do in Marketing, or learning about the new features of Gmail, something that most people use every single day. The real world examples are all around. You’re living in it, you might as well learn more about it!

Volleyball Games Postponed!
ATTENTION Volleyball Fans:
Volleyball games for Thursday Sept. 4th, at Martin Luther High School have been postponed. A make-up date has not been decided upon, yet. Stay tuned!
Attention Parents of all Football Parents!
Parents night for the football team will be at halftime of the October 10th game against St. Cats. This is a change in date from the previously schedule time. Please be prepared to gather just before halftime by the concession stand. This will be for parents of both the JV and varsity players.

Reminder Mandatory Fall Sports Meeting
Mandatory fall sports meeting dates have been set. Since football season is starting a couple of weeks before school and the rest of the fall sports, I decided to have two meetings this year. Hopefully, those not in football will have a little more time to enjoy their summer.
Coaches will have a short individual team meeting to go over expectations of students in their programs after the general session. If your coach has set up another arrangement for their team expectation meeting, you must still attend the general sports meeting for your child to participate in fall athletics at Catholic Central.

CC Golf at Sectionals
Congratulations to the boy's golf team on an extremely successful season. The team made a great showing at their sectional event on Wednesday. A big shout out to Jeff Stemper on qualifying for the State tournament for the 1st time. Jeff will be playing on Monday and Tuesday of next week. Good luck to Jeff!

State Golf Info to watch the action LIVE!
The first LIVE webcast of the WIAA Boy's State Golf Championship will take place on Monday, June 9 and Tuesday, June 10 from University Ridge Golf Course in Madison. The webcast will be easily found on the WIAA website <<wiaawi.org>> or on <<foxsportswisconsin.com>>.
Holes 8, 9 and 18 will be televised during the webcast and scoring updates will also be provided. If any playoffs on Tuesday following completion of the two-day meet are necessary, they will be held on Holes #1 and #9 so that they can be shown live during the webcast.
Play-by-play will be handled by Bill Brophy, while color analysis will be provided by Troy Ryan, Head Boy's Golf Coach at Wisconsin Dells and Doug Chickering, Executive Director Emeritus of the WIAA. Numerous guest interviews will also take place during the show.
Please encourage your Country Clubs and Golf Courses to link the webcast to existing television monitors. Also, relay to golfers, managers, students, parents, grandparents and all golf enthusiasts the availability of this webcast and tell them to watch. The broadcast will begin at approximately 8:45 am each day (weather dependent) and continue through completion of play in the evening.
We received tremendous interest and following this past fall during the WIAA Girl's State Golf Championships webcast and would love to see continued growth in the viewership of high school golf. The excitement and interest in high school golf meets is truly catching on.
The webcast will be produced by PlayOn! Sports Productions.
