Catholic Schools Week Agenda
Next week we will be celebrating Catholic Schools Week! This is a time to acknowledge and praise Catholic schools with Mass and activities at school. This year, the Student Council has come up with a few ideas to promote Catholic education as well as Catholic values.
Here's what's planned for next week:
THEME: HELPING OTHERS
Dress-up Days:
- Monday: Star Wars "Spreading The Force"
- Tuesday: Superheroes
- Wednesday: Mass
- Thursday: Topper Pride
- Friday: (Mass Day Schedule) Team Peanut Day (with a fundraiser) when students can wear their Team Peanut shirts
7th Hour Trivial Pursuit:
- During 7th hour, class will compete in a Trivial Pursuit contest with other classes by answering questions each day to earn pie pieces (no iPads! :)
- The winning 7th hour class will get a pizza party
Also, to create an even more caring community at Catholic Central, every day during 7th hour students will write notes of affirmation to other students. Each day students will receive an email directing them where to focus their messages and will write one and deliver it to envelopes posted on lockers.
Look out for posters and listen to announcements for more details. Let's make this a great Catholic Schools Week celebration!
THANK YOU CATHOLIC COMMUNITY FOUNDATION - DONATION
Catholic Central High School's Theology Department recently received an $8,900 grant from the Catholic Community Foundation to purchase new textbooks! The textbooks will be most beneficial to the Theology program by providing consistency in scope and sequence of the Theology curriculum as set forth in the Milwaukee Archdiocesan standards.
Model UN Conference Trip
Over the past weekend, Catholic Central students traveled to Ann Arbor, Michigan to participate in the University of Michigan Model UN Conference. Students participated in a United Nations-simulation where they represented Iran and the Czech Republic and other various individuals in different UN committees. Before attending the conference, each student was assigned both a UN committee and a country by Model UN organizers to research and prepare papers on for the simulation. While in Ann Arbor, they participated in authentic UN meetings and discussed given global topics and problems. From there, they joined with other delegates to draft working papers and write resolutions to solved these problems. Some of the topics in committee were more controversial, such as the treatment of the Rohingya, rights of migrant workers, the situation in Yemen, and prevention and prosecution of genocide and crimes against humanity, and led to heated debate among the delegates. Our students each contributed well throughout the four-day conference.
Overall, students had a great time discussing global topics within their committees and sharing research and opinion with other delegates. “It was a lot of fun. We had a great time meeting new people from schools all over the Midwest. Most of the committees were really fun and allowed for an extremely lifelike interpretation of the U.N.. You get to know your fellow Model U.N.ers much better too. Overall it was a great time, and I will definitely do it next year!” said freshman Marcus Robinson.
Next year we hope to include even more CCHS students on the trip! If you are interested in signing up for Model UN next year, stop by and talk to Ms. Dosemagen!

Support Austin Neuhaus with a "Team Peanut" T-Shirt!
To help raise more funding for Austin's medical expenses, and more importantly to show support for him, CCHS will be selling "Team Peanut" shirts. The front of the shirt will have "Team Peanut" and the back will have his basketball number, and Philippians 4:13 across the shoulders. There is a double header this Friday against Racine Lutheran and it would be great to see everyone in their "Team Peanut" shirt at the game! We are hoping to get a huge picture of everyone supporting Austin that night!
The cost of the t-shirt is $10.00. Please email Ms. Reyzer at areyzer@cchsnet.org with the size(s) and number of t-shirts you would like to order with the subject title: Team Peanut Shirt.
Please send in your order by the end of the school day today, Tuesday 1/5.
Pitchers & Catchers Softball Camp
We had nine campers for the first session and five catchers for the second session. Total of fourteen.
The turn out wasn't our best but each camper was given one on one with our instructors. Big thank you goes out to our alumni, and volunteers who helped make this possible. Looking forward to 2016's camp.
Theses five athletes got a workout with one on one, learning how to block a pitch, framing a pitch, throw downs, recovering a wild pitch, handling pop ups, and tag outs at the plate. A big thank you, goes out to Alecia Faber (four year catcher from UW-LaCrosse) who ran our catchers camp. Alecia also gives catcher lessons, and is a certified umpire. Shown far right in photo.
