CCHS Spring Recital

Join the Catholic Central Music Department as they prepare for the annual Solo/Ensemble Festival with an informal recital at The CoffeeHouse at Chestnut and Pine.  You'll hear music spanning Italian Art Songs to 1960s Jazz, from Classic Gigues to Romantic Nocturnes.  Paired with the St. Mary's Grade School Music Department, this is an event you can't miss.

Furthermore, The CoffeeHouse will be donating a portion of proceeds from all purchases from 4PM-9PM to the Music Departments.
So come on out, grab a hot coffee, some good food, check out the newly renovated CoffeeHouse and enjoy some wonderful music!

Government presidential election: campaigning

The two U.S. Government classes are currently running in an election for the presidency of the United States. (I know, they're realistically a little young, but we have high ambitions.) In class, they have been discussing and evaluating roles of government and the political election system. Throughout the next two weeks students will be posting campaign materials in the school, online via Twitter, Instagram or other social media, or through email.

Students and staff are asked to take the time to read or look at the campaign material as they are the voting electorate that government students are aiming to persuade.

Election Day is set for Tuesday, March 3rd. That morning two "ballots" (one for each class) will be available to CCHS students and staff to vote for their chosen candidate. (We will actually be electing two presidents.) Each ballot will also contain a link to candidates’ websites and more detailed information.

Local Historian visits CCHS

On Monday, February 16, local historian and writer Lance Herdegen - author of four books chronicling the actions of the Iron Brigade in the Civil War, came and spoke with Mr. Meddaugh's US History students about the war. Mr. Herdegen told stories from the men themselves, explained the major significance Wisconsin played in the war, quizzed the students on their knowledge of the war as well as even got them up and placed them in rank and file.

Students were able to gain better perspective of such a crucial time of the war. Below are a few pictures of the event along with a video of the story of John Hinton at the Battle of First Bull Run, a Carroll University grad who was wounded at the first major battle of the Civil War.
